After distillation, Dimethyldichlorosilane splits into disilanol and hydrochloric acid. The hydrochloric acid acts as a catalyst, turning the disilanol into poly dimethyl siloxane. The siloxane bond, the cornerstone of silicone, is present in poly dimethyl siloxane.
